Jonas Tavares, Director of Respiratory Therapy
Jonas Tavares, is a Registered Respiratory Therapist, and has worked for the Respiratory Care Department at St. Anthony Summit Medical Center for three (3) years. He graduated from Southeast Community College in Lincoln, NE. While employed in the respiratory field for the last twelve years, Jonas has provided care for patients in critical care, burn ICU, NICU, pediatric ICU, medical/surgical, ICU and emergency departments.
About the Department:
The Respiratory Care Department is a full service, specialty department that works under medical direction to provide the treatment, management, control, diagnostic evaluation, and care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardio-pulmonary system. We use therapeutic measures such as oxygen, humidification, aerosols, ventilator support, broncho-pulmonary drainage, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, and airway management.
The Respiratory Care Department offers a Smoking Cessation Program, PFT’s, and EKG’s as well as assists with Nuclear Medicine Stress Tests. All Respiratory Care services are performed by Respiratory Therapists. They also assist patients and their families with instruction on respiratory home care therapy and associated equipment.
