Since retiring and moving to Summit County in 2001, Karen and her husband Don have been active and involved in the community from the beginning. Karen has been involved with Dancing with the Mountain Stars from its inception, and served as the chairperson the first year in 2008, co-chaired in 2009 and chaired the event again in 2011. She and Don are active with the University of Colorado Foundation, in particular at CU Denver, where Don is an alumnus.
During her career with AT&T (1979-2000), Karen was recognized as a top performer with strong leadership and people skills. She has extensive experience in coaching managers, facilitating business processes and developing high performance teams. Her last position in Englewood, CO was as Director of Global Customer Education with Lucent Technologies and AT&T. She graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and also graduated from executive education courses from the University of Michigan and Indiana University, Graduate School of Business.
Karen and Don have four grown children, three sons and one daughter. They enjoy spending time with their children and nine grandchildren who live in California, Seattle and Denver. Karen enjoys golf, snowshoeing, reading and travel.
